Ensemble Heroes Workshop
Saturday, Aug 9, 9 am - 5 pm

Join our one-day workshop about how we can approach heroism through a collective lens. How does the myth of a hero-elect prevent us from engaging in effective action for each other and the planet? How can we build the courage to stand up for our values, and how does a greater number of people acting bravely reduce risk for all?

Activities include analysis of ensemble heroes in fiction and history,

intention-setting, meditation, and yoga. This is a great opportunity for

anyone who wants to live a life more aligned with their values.

Suggested donation is $50; you may also chose "Other" on the registration page to put whatever donation amount is accessible to you, including $0 (we want you to attend!)

Lead Facilitator

Kate

I'm Kate, a creative writer who teaches at San Diego Writers, Ink and the NewSchool of Architecture & Design, and volunteers facilitating writing workshops at Centinela State Prison and the Navy Brig through SDSU's Valuing Incarcerated Students in Academia program and the Prison Arts Collective.

I have worked at multiple nonprofits for social and environmental justice, including the San Diego Food Bank, Solana Center for Environmental Innovation, an orphanage for HIV positive children in India, an LGBTQIA+ rights center in Chile, and my college LGBTQIA+ center. In 2019, my friend and I were featured in NPR's Marketplace for our participation in effective collective action.

I look forward to building our collective power, together!
