Our Connection with Nature: Photography

           Meet the Photographer ROY TOFT

SFRC invites you to spend an evening with Roy Toft.

Roy, an award winning international photographer, will share his passion for photographing the wild: at home and afar. Join us for an opening reception and a photo slideshow presentation. Find out what it means for him to be close to the wild, how to capture the perfect shot, and, of course, what equipment he uses. Roy, a native from Poway and resident in Ramona, will recount his international safari experiences and share encounters with the wild right here in his backyard.

Feel free to stay on for fire-pit story telling. Check for our overnight accommodation.

About Roy

Roy Toft is an award-winning wildlife photographer committed to documenting rare and endangered species. Roy's photographs advance conservation efforts globally, in part through his work with the International League of Conservation Photography (ILCP), where he is a founding fellow. His work has been featured in publications including National Geographic, Audubon, Discover, Smithsonian, and Wildlife Conservation. Roy has received top honors in the most prestigious competitions in his genre including the London Natural History Museum's Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Nature's Best. In 2007, Roy won first place and the Gerald Durrell Award for endangered species in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.

Roy and his wife Stella make their home on 28 acres of the boulder covered Starvation Mountain in west Ramona, CA.  Roy enjoys essentially everything active and out in nature, including hiking with the dogs, surfing, and mountain biking. His favorite pastime when not traveling for photography is designing and cultivating his extensive garden, inspired by South African flora, including a wide variety of aloes and other exotic plants.
